Tea Ceremony

Image
I joined the tea ceremony on 7 March.  This was for beginners but traditional Japanese things except sitting on a chair. I was bit late to arrive the venue. Sensei , a tea master, has finished explaining ways of taking sweet, make tea from  matcha , powdered green tea, and drinking matcha .  When I arrived, the other participants, friends of mine, started taking sweets.  I was the last person to take sweet. After that, they made and drank tea. I observed this class in January, but things were so different between observing and doing. I tried to follow sensei's instruction, but I found it hard. She also explained background information. Organisers make arrangement for the ceremony with their own intentions.  Initially they set up idea, shukou , for the ceremony.  One of the examples is to celebrate spring coming.  Based on ideas, they set up  the venue, e.g flower arrangement and selecting tea bowls. These items reflect organisers' ideas. All are integrated. Sweet
